Speaking of which, I notice that Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is now £17.99 on Amazon - I think it's still at least £30 on Steam?

its been £18 on play.com for some time

and the same goes for a bunch of games being cheaper to buy the disc version than the digi d/l ... which makes absolutely no sense when you factor in the disc costs, the burning costs, the printing costs, the shipping costs, reseller profit margin ... all those extra overheads and yet 2x the price on steam.

Speaking of play.com iablo3 has appeared for pre-order ... has been for about 4wks. Possibly a sign of release fairly soon??? Huh

It's funny you mention that - after I got home yesterday, I had a look on Steam and it appears that they've dropped the Left 4 Dead pre-order price to match the likes of Amazon and Play.com.

I'm now in two minds as to whether I stick with the store-bought copy via Amazon, or give my cash to Valve directly..?

I just looked on Play and it's £26.99 - I reckon Valve are playing the stitch-up game by preventing retailers from discounting. Bastards. either way, it's better than the discounted £39.99 for the console version... how the fuck do they get away with pricing like that? And why the fuck do people put up with it? And why aren't the EU investigating this very clear stitch-up?

But Left 4 Dead 2 was on Steam for £34-odd until last week? (Unless I'm mistaken) It's now £26.99 - the same price as Play.com

It would be interesting to see just how much of a slice of the action Valve are taking with every purchase (via Steam).

Speaking (as you were earlier) of the eggsbox 360, you'll likely enjoy this: -

Hmmm, I'll have to investigate later - the stupid http://store.steampowered.com site thinks I'm in mainland Europe on account of our poxy server.. Also, it seems (having done the conversion from Euros to £ Sterling) that our european brethren are getting a raw deal - L4D2 IS discounted, but it's still about £30. Haha. FAIL.

How are you by the way, I don't think we've heard a peep out of you on Steam for months..?

Also, have you got Aliens: Colonial Marines on pre-order yet?

Yeah, not bad ta - buried under work (and on the eggs box too...) and whatnot, which aint a lot of fun, but thats mostly out of the way now until the new year.

Also, have you got Aliens: Colonial Marines on pre-order yet?

I have a dilemma - PC or 360.

Surely you can't desert us in our hour of need - although with the possibility of Rodders hooning about with the flame thrower perhaps you SHOULD go for the eggsbox version... Grin [sits and waits for the "Fuck you!"s to begin] Grin Grin Grin Grin

played this for a couple of hours last night; it's very good IMHO. The DEagle is excellent for one shot kills of multiple enemies. There's even an AWP for the CS:S fan in you. I also saw the chainsaw for the first time, although I didn't get to play with it.

Maybe it was just me, but the respawn time seems to have been reduced and I particularly like the new "collect X to complete the mission" - it adds a new dynamic to the end of the mission - certainly on "Dead Center" at least.

Anyone up for some co-op, Teamspeak-enabled, zombie battering action tomorrow?
