Here are a couple more pictures of my partially assembled REPRAP PRUSA (Mendel):
I assembled the two vertexes with little or no issues:
Here’s the vertexes with the front and rear rails added – none of this is tightened up yet as there are set distances between each of the plastic parts that are necessary for correct alignment.
Once the front and rear rails were attached I then had to add the top rails and their associated motor mounts. This left me with a slight hitch which I hope you can see clearly in the following image:
What I think has happened is that the Motor Mounts I was sent were drilled at a metric pitch of 66mm – when in fact the top vertex holes had been drilled at a pitch of 2.25 Inches – needless to say they didn’t fit. After brief discussion with the supplier of all of these plastic parts, I decided to try having them drilled out by a friendly manufacturing company based in Newbury, Berkshire on a subsequent visit.
Drilling just one of the holes to a 9.0mm O/D on both parts fixed the problem; which was good.
Now I just need to build the ‘X’ & ‘Y’ carriages, as well as the build platter and the mechanical side of things (so far) will be complete.
